Hey ya'll heres another j-man special, hood vents on the cheap.  The hood vent mod is a common one for xjs due to their common overheating problems and i was fortunate enough to come across some matrials and resources that allowed me to do it for relatively nothing.  first off i just happend to have an extra hood, i had a jeep given to me last summer that i parted out and i still had the hood.

yes i know the hood is red and yes i know my jeep is white but i wanted to do a trial run to see how it looked before i tore into my white hood and beside the red might look pretty sexy once i get it on because of the red stripe down the side of my jeep.

the vents that i used were from the cowling from a YJ, i used two so that meant finding two vents, which lucky the local junk yard had two yjs and at a cool low price of ten bucks for both vents i figured it was s deal i couldnt pass up.

i then did a little CAD (cardboard aided design) to get placement of the holes

i then procced to cut out the holes with a grinder that had a cut-off wheel on it.

then i placed the vents in the holes marked the spots for the bolts and drilled the 3/16 inch holes for the 3/16 inch hardware which i had gotten from a work for free last summer

then i test fitted everything one more time and then bolted and tightend everything down

i did not install it tonight because it was getting late and i was getting tired and the bugs were getting bad, so it will be put on tomorrow and to finish it off im thinking a big crawler ready symbol across itLaugh

no you dont get it… its a jeep, its never fixed, just less broken

Job well done! I like how it turned out. You gonna trash your white hood and swap this one in?
