Anyone have any recommendations for a local shop that does front bumpers for XJs? I pulled the mangled mess that was my stock bumper off the Jeep today, and figured it's not going to go back on. I'd like to get something simple with recovery hooks, maybe even with provisions to handle a winch.
Just looking for ideas at this point, to get a sense for what's out there and what stuff costs.

fabbing your own would be the cheapest, and i dont really know anything local unfortunatly, best bet would be to check out the web, like rustysoffroad.com, 4wd.com, jcr.com, quadratec.com, there are tons more just search for them on a google or something

no you dont get it… its a jeep, its never fixed, just less broken

Yeah, I browsed around 4wd.com and Rusty's last night. It really does seem cheaper to buy a welding rig and figure it out rather than pay for some of these bumpers!
Well, I'll figure something out. :-)

I made a bumper a while back, $34 in steel and an hour of cutting and welding.

I just ordered a Pre-Runner style front bumper from Aries Fabrication in Schaumburg. James patterns his similar to the JCR's, but with mods that I feel are better. He welds D-ring attachments to the front and back of the bumper, includes "tie in brackets" as standard mounting point, and the main bar is 6" wide instead of 5". All in all, I'm paying about $400 for what JCR would charge $450-$500 and do not have to pay for shipping.
James pretty much is a make-to-order type of shop, so if he can just make what you want to fit in different price points.
