Hi all, my name is Michael.  I'm in Woodridge, with an almost completely stock '06 Wrangler X, 4.0L 6 speed (Unfortunately with the Dana 35/30 combo).  I'd love to get her out on the trails a little, nothing too brutal since the only thing added to help offroad right now at the 31's.

Here's a pictures:

Welcome to the forum. Nice looking TJ, even if it does only have 31s, its a start. Hope to see you at a meet and greet soon. We got one coming up on the 8th next month. Any future plans for the TJ?

Don't want to do anything too extreme to it, it is my daily driver and I have a '90 Corvette that I split my toy money with.  If I'm going to get her wheeling more, I'll need to ugrade the axle(s), half heartedly keeping an eye out for a Dana 44 or two.  I'd like to give her a little lift, and I want to build some bumpers.  A few bolt on performance mods while I'm at it.

Honestly the dana 35 isnt that bad of an axle, at least for light duty offroading and daily driving. I have a dana 35 in my ZJ and she is just fine. Honestly I wouldnt worry about searching for a dana 44. If you are worried about the dana 35, get some extra shafts, either in the aftermarket world or the junk yard. If you were thinking about doing a small lift or anything like that with it the dana 35 would be fine.

Hey neighboor welcome! The row of garages in the background look familiar. That would be off of Janes Ave. right? Lived in Downers Grove for a while. Now I'm in Bolingbrook

Good idea to have a couple spare shafts sitting in the back when I go out.  Could use keeping the 35 and 30 as an excuse to break out the welder and burn in some axle trusses. If I come across a Dana 44 that is cheap and I can drop in under the rig than why not, not planning on spending thousands to swap one in, but if the price is right…

Xjay,

Good eye, I am over in the condo's there. I work over in Bolingbrook too.

Welcome Bad Karma!

Nothing wrong with a D30/35 Combo, lots of folks run them, people just love to bash the 35 even if they don't really know what they are talking about.

You can run up to 35's with that combo if you go with Chrome moly shafts, like Superior EVO's.   Sure its money but good luck finding a 44 and for any reasonable price and your gonna need too build that up too depending on your driving style.

It's all how you use the skinny peddle Wink

FYI -I am running 33's on a 30/35 with the front locked and an open rear.

Hope to meet you soon.
