My name is Doug, I'm a 40 year old geez, just looking to have some fun and meet some new friends. I live in West Chicago, the Suburb not the West side of Chicago.
I purchased my 1st Jeep Wrangler just over a year ago. It was 2000 I6 4.0 manual completely stock. I since have added 31" tires RC 2.5 lift, JKS discos, 9k Winch, lights and other miscellaneous accessories. This weekend I hope to put my new rocker guards on.
I have wheeled with a couple clubs out at the Badlands(Twisted Offroaders, Indy ORV, Jeeps Gone Wild) and had a great time, but still looking for a local club.
I am still learning but having tons of fun doing so. I also ATV so my time off-roading is split between the two hobbies.

Hi Doug! Thanks for posting and welcome to the forum!! How did you hear about us?
BTW, we are having our first annual Newbie Run next Saturday (April 24th) at the Cliff's. It will be a great opportunity for you to meet our members and learn a few off-road basics as well as good safety tips. More info is on the front page.
Hope to see you there!!

Mitch, he's in the town of "West Chicago". The same town whose cop's captured the bank robber who escaped from those idiot Cook County Corrections Officers at the Rolling Meadows courthouse last year.
Doug, welcome to the forums – If the 24th is open for you, come on out to the Cliff's ORP that Saturday. As mentioned, it's the Newbie run but should be a great time no matter what skill level one has. Hope you can make it.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes! I found out about DDoffroad from someone on Jeepforum.com. I will take some new pics hopefully on Saturday after I get the A to Z fab rocker guards on. My last trip to the Badlands put some tiny dents in the rockers and the almost downhill sliding collision with a rock a 1/4 of the size of the jeep made me finally order some armor.
The newbie run sounds like a good time, I am not a total noob but I know I could learn a bunch from much more experienced drivers. Need to get some projects done around the house but I should be able to get away on the 24th. I haven't been to the Cliff's in a few years, and then it was on 4x4 ATV's. I always remember buzzing past the stuck jeeps, chuckling.
One time I had a poor guy in a pretty stock wrangler that I came across high centered in the creek. He was stuck and his gf was pissing and moaning in the passenger seat. He asked me to try to pull him out, lol I tried but a 600lb ATV didn't do much. I ended up going back to the front trailer and telling them he needed a recovery. Poor guy was embarrassed and was getting beat up by his co-pilot.
