So, because of the price, I was looking at Skyjacker's Economy 4" lift kit.  From what I've read, most of the price difference (about $500) is because the parts are imported.  Also the front sway bar ends are not disconects.  Does anyone have experience with Skyjacker products?  Would you recommend them for quality and reliability?  Below is theproduct detail from Quadratech.  Oh, I almost forgot, I read that it's better not to use the drop pitman arm for a lift of 4" or less.  Any thoughts?

Limited Lifetime Warranty

Differences from the Standard kit are:

  • Front sway bar end links are non-disconnects
  • Front bump stops are not poly (same hard material like rear bump stops)
  • 4 Hydro Shocks are Included in component box (shock boots included)
  • Drop Pitman Arm also still Included
  • Parts Included

    • Front and Rear Coils
    • Front and Rear Lower Control Arms
    • Front and Rear Hydro Shocks
    • Front Bumpstops
    • Transfer Case Lowering Kit
    • Front and Rear Sway Bar End Links
    • Drop Pitman Arm
    • Rear Trackbar Bracket

I take it this is for a TJ?

I actually installed one of these for a buddy this fall.  We put in a SYE (Slip Yoke Eliminator) and a Tom Woods so we didn't really have a need for the transfer case drop.  If your going to drive this everyday and wheel it hard, I highly recommend this.  You don't have to do it right away but most people end up doing it after the rear seal breaks from the extra stress from the more extreme angles.  If you don't know what an SYE is, do a quick google search and you'll see the advantages.

As for the pitman arm, I have done a hand full of lifts and have never installed them.  If it comes in the kit you might as well put it on, but for this project we did a knuckle over system.  It puts all of the steering system above the axle so it isn't the first thing to hit an obstacle.  Also, I noticed that break line extensions aren't listed there.  Your going to want those, at least for the front. You can just un bolt a bracket in the rear to gain the extra length you need.

Skyjacker is a pretty good product, and we had good experiences with their customer service.  They took back the parts we didn't need (Because of the upgrades) and were very fast.  Unlike what I'm going through with Superlift right now. Yell

Good luck, TJ's are an easy kit to install.  Have fun!

Skyhacker?? Yeah to be honest with you, not a big fan of them. I know we live in illinois and the winters suck and all that but what I have noticed with Skyjacker stuff is that their parts rust out really quickly. I have had Rubicon, Rusty's, Superlift and Skyjacker on my vehicles and out of all of them, I would never put Skyjacker on one of my vehicles ever again. I support Skyjacker for what they do but I honestly wouldnt go with them. There are a lot of other companies out there that are cheap, in price that is, if thats what you are going for. Not only do they rust really quickly, I also think the ride quality is horrible as well. I dont know, it is totally up to you though, its your Jeep. I would recommend doing some more research on other companies, if you havent already. The decision is totally up to you though. If its the price you are looking at, I would say, if this was the lowest price for a lift that you have found, then go for. Sometimes people just get a bad group of parts (might have been my case) and others get the best parts. I have also noticed they have changed their paint colors, so maybe it wont rust out as much as they do when I had them.

Jason – To answer your question, nope.  I might suggest as Tony made reference to, let us know the model if it's not obvious or in your sigline.  Only other thing I can suggest is do your homework on various Jeep? forums and such.  If there's one thing I've learned in this hobby is that no one's opinion is going to give you the ultimate final answer you seek.  To be honest, there isn't another motor sport I've been associated with over the years that is as opinionated as this one, especially regarding aftermarket parts.  Do the best you can to buy the desired parts you want.  One hundred people can tell you "It's the best" and you end up with soemthing you don't like or doesn't work for you.  Yeah I could submit claims that Rough Country sucks and Rusty's makes crap!  Your experiences may differ from mine.

Okay, my intention was not to preach something you probably already know but rather, just buy the kit you like, can afford and hope it works for you.  You can always upgrade parts from other sources later if need be.  In this hobby experimentation is a given-in –  I've heard many people admitting to livin' & learin' from making the wrong choices.  Good luck!
