I got a 40" Hi-Lift Xtreme for Christmas (thanks mom!) and now I need to figure out how to mount it to my roof rack. I have this tubular style rack… Valley Roof Top Basket Cargo Carrier V90350 – etrailer.com. Would the Hi-Lift 4x4 rack mount work? It looks like it wouldnt… Hi-Lift 4XRAC (4x400) – Easy way to stow your Hi-Lift Jack | Hi Lift Jack Company.
How did you mount yours to the roof rack?

I would mount it somewhere inside your vehicle but make sure it is secure so it doesnt come flying at you if you get off camber really bad (personal experience :( )

We got Justin one for Christmas a few years ago (the one used at Silver Lake for Tim's stuck) and he installed it on the roof with the holder and a lock. The elements have done a bit too it so inside maybe better. But he has the biggest size so inside wasn't too much of an option. You can just wait until trail days

Haha! That's when Ruk was cutting down the tree!! Oh, and I stupidly drove sideways on a sand hill. You live you learn. Not going to do that again…

Haha oh yea! You're right! That sand confused me. :) Watching your face as they pulled you out of your sideways sand trap was priceless.

I really dont want to have it flopping around inside. Its big and heavy and could cause some damage. I want to mount it to my roof rack, but i WILL NOT be leaving it up there all the time. As you know I live in Chicago and people steal crap. I'll only put it up there for trail runs. So what I am looking for is a nifty way to mount it to that rack where i can come of easilly…

Fab something up or call the roof rack company and see if they have something to mount it with.

I got one, too. It's not a roof/rack mount, but I got the roll bar mount for JK's from Quadratec. It went in like a breeze!
