Quick question, since memberships are renewed at the beginning of the season, how will it work for those members that joined in October, November, or even at the Holiday party? They paid their 30 bucks, but never really got a chance to go wheeling or any of that…Will they have to pay another 30 dollars again when the 2010 season kicks off? This doesnt really affect me cause I joined in June/July, so whatever, I can pull another 30 bucks outta my ass LOL, but I would feel bad for the newer members that joined at the end of the 2009 season.

To answer this now. I will personally take care of that when the time comes. This is how I am going to do. On your 1 year join date, you will pay for your new yearly membership. I have everyone’s join date writen down and is also on a spread sheet. I will pm and email the person a month in advance to remind them. If you pass your join date anniversary and havent paid, you will have until the holiday party (2010) to pay it but if anyone who has been in the club for awhile and would like to either pay it on their anniversary date or at the season kick off, then those 2 options will work as well. I am also doing this to take some pressure off of Tim and John to concentrate on other club things. Hope that answers that question for everyone new and old members.

Evans :)

We are still ironing out some of the details, but for those members that joined at T4T or the Holiday party, they joined for 2010 and are set to go for the new season. We let me know that when they joined.

i dont know about anyone els but it would be intresting to hit mud roads for a weeked like the trip you guys had last year

an old club i was in had trailing, i will see if i can find info, you heve a corse layed out and you have to get as fare along that corse as you can (very short)  there are 10 canes about 10 ft apart depending on the trane close you get to the end the less points you get and ther person witht the leased points at the end off the year wins,   ive neva seen it in the us but it was intresting and made you think insted of driveing round an obstical. prob wont work as i cant think any where we could set it up as IL is so dam flat lol

http://www.badlrc.co.uk/trials.html   thers info on there but you may have to flow another link as i cant open them proply at the moment, they do lots of things as a club and they may give you some ideas as what the club can do

also there shouldnt be any requiermets to join the club most clubs let join just becouse you have an intrest in what ever the club is about not becuse you own one, next i have handed out so many flyers and told any one who would listen how good the club is and frendly and now i just feel pissed

then the way i joind the club  was by coming on the forum and chating to a few of you 1st and evry one seam grate so i joined, but now after reading a few members posts lately i kno i would not of joind so its gota be the same for other people, we should be makeing it esay and couftble for people not make them feel that have to be f-king intiated its a wheeling club not the stone massons.   thorght the idea of the club reforming was to get away from this bull!!

Well as someone who has yet to become a full fledge member, I like the route this club seems to be taking.  Including the recent suggestions made by some of it's active members.  I am really looking forward to becoming a full fledged member and wheeling with DDO this year.  I am under the impression that this club is solely for those who want to get "down & dirty" off road.  And to do that, anyone participating in such events (and 4×4 clubs regardless) should be required to adhere to the common sense rules of off-roading.  And to name just a few of those rules (off-road rules, not just DDO club requirements), anyone going off road should have a 4×4, recovery points and their own recovery gear such as straps.  Lacking these "common sense" requirements is not smart – Especially in a club such as DDO.

As for DDO and the way it stands, I like the people I've met (in person) here and think this is exactly the type of club I want to be apart of.  My taillights are fading fast from another group (not really a club IMO) because many of the members are more about internet forums than actual off road club participation.  I want to wheel like a banshee! – While meeting those said smart requirements.

My unofficial member .2 cents worth.

Brett,

I dont want you to be pissed, we are all lucky that you have joined and there will not be any sort of special requirements to join DDO or will there ever be. In my opinion there are people that offroad with 2 wheel drive vehicles, its called the Baja 1000 and Jeepspeed, which I have a friend that does the whole Jeepspeed thing and he owns not only a very nice 2wd Jeep but also a 4wd Jeep that are both Jeepspeed set up. I also would like to thank you for joining our club and handing out so many flyers and telling people about our club, thats the point of the flyers to get good people like yourself to join our club and help us build our club into something great. Oddball I would like to thank you for your nice comments about our club, Tim, John and myself have tried to make this club the funnest, nicest, and most family friendly club possible. I understand everyone's concerns about the whole tow strap, cb radio/antenna, recovery points and I'm pretty sure that if you know something about 4 wheeling or off road and your vehicle is built to do so, that your vehicle has those and for those people who have just gotten into this great hobby/sport, I'm pretty sure that they are working on those. I would just like to thank everyone who joined us in the 2009 year and cant wait to see you all very soon.

Evans,

I'm curious – Does DDO participate in JeepSpeed?  I'm also guessing the club hasn't made a trip to Baja?  My point being, I think I need to learn more about this club.  With that said, I'm under the impression DDO mainly wheels at places like Badlands and The Cliff's.  I know some of you went up to McCaslin Mtn as I met those who did – So I have to ask (since I didn't get the chance to wheel at McCaslin and I've never been to Badlands or The Cliff's), can a 2wd actually wheel at these places?  I've been under the impression they cannot?  And for that matter, are there off road places the club goes to where 2wd vehicles can participate and enjoy in the fun?

Thanks,
Jerry

Btw; I'm game for a trip to Baja if anyone wants to go!  I've spent several vacations there but only wheeled there once – many years ago.

Most places need 4x4 and thats why it is part of our club. I've seen a few 2wd vehichles run up at the Siver Lake dunes. Ruk ran in 2wd for the most part. As for wheeling places, DDO was strictly midwest in 2009, but we are totally open to planning cross-country trips. Those will take a lot more planning, possibly in 2010 but definately in years to come!

Oddball,

No DDO doesnt participate in Jeepspeed. I would actually like to make a Jeepspeed rig one day whether its 2wd or 4wd. Like I said my buddy has both drivelines but he likes the 2wd better. As for a trip out to see an actually Jeepspeed race, I have been to 1 about 4 yrs ago and it was freaking crazy. Those guys out there really go all out in what they do with their Cherokees and my buddy now is saying he is seeing more and more other Jeep models join the Jeepspeed races. There is a company out there right now building up a WJ for Jeepspeed which I think is pretty cool. I wouldnt mind a trip out there to see one, I would have to ask my buddy about location and everything but if you would like more info about it at Jeepspeed.com and check some of the stuff out on Youtube.com. With 2wd at Cliff's or Badlands, I have seen some vehicles make it through Cliff's in 2wd but thats during the summer where there isnt much mud at Cliff's same with the Badlands. I wouldnt recommend doing Cliff's in 2wd during the fall or spring, lol, but anything is possible with the right driving skills, tires, etc. Hope that helps you out sir.

Have seen quite a few 2wd vehicles at Badlands… but I think that Badlands offers more low-key sections for that type of wheeling than some place like Cliffs.

Cliffs pretty much demands 4wd, IMO.
