Checking out a "used" (still in the box) Warn M8000 winch for my Jeep. Comes with remote, rollers, and whatever is in the box. Is 450 a good deal? Never bought a winch before, just checking so I don't get ripped off, and is 8000 enough? or should I hold out for a 9K.

An 8-9k winch should be good, but 450 seems kinda high without knowing the condition.

Thanks Doug, good to know. Apparently, this guy bought a winch and never took it out of the box, its two years old. What should I offer him?

I bought my warn m8000 last year on sale for about 500 new. I would low ball him and offer 250 and go from there, ya never know, people are strapped for cash now a days. An m8000 is a great winch, nice and fast, almost as fast as a hs9500. Perfect size for a jeep, im running one on my taco that definately outweighs that cj (im probibly about at the max for this size winch).

The rule that I have heard for winch size is at least 1.5 times the weight of the vehicle. So this one should work fine, Tony!

Low balling at 250 or 3 might not be a bad place to start, but if it is a friend you have to make a judgement call. Sounds like it could be a good deal for the right price since it's never been used.
Good luck with the hagglin'
