Ok so i just have a question about proper tire sizes and stuff. and im looking into getting 36x13.5x15 IRoks… and well this might be a stupid question but it is possible or ok to have that on a 15x8 wheel… or do i need to get a 15x10? i know it might bulge a little or a lot.. but i also hear that it wont pop off the bead as easily at lower psi if im running them on a 15x8… or is it even ok to wrap that wide of a tire on a 8 inch wide rim… thanks….

WOW 36' 13.5's!!!
I would stick with a 15x8 wheel.
More importantly though that big of a tire requires more than just rims.
What axles do you have?
What gearing?
Is your steering stock?
Fender trimming or highlining
correct bump stop
You may need to address all of these before going that big, or you may be walking home.
I am not a YJ guy but going that big gets expensive, and the expense is more than just tires.

When i had my yj i was going to run 36" tsls. My plan was to run a 14 bolt rear and d44 up, i was destroying d30 axle shafts evreytime wheeling with 33s and a front locker. I would say d44s at MINUMUM, a redneck ram hydro assist steering, tons of fender trimming and re gear that truck. Like weee said it gets expensive real quick. Now if you know theis then go to town lol!! I would think you can wedge a tire that wide on there, search some of the larger 4x4 sites.

from what i have read online and mags is that you want the tire to be 4" bigger than the wheel you have. like 16x8 wheel you would want a 12.50. thats what i have came across.

Yeah and when I was considering 35's, I was told I would need to run 5.13 gears in both my D44's. On a side note, I was also told I would have to upgrade my factory air lockers to ARB air lockers with 35" or bigger. Too much crap to deal with so I decided against going that big.

Yes you can run 15x8 with a 33x13.5 and it is the best width for a rim for a tire of that size.

You wouldn't need 5.13 gears but its a good idea. Also, the only reason you would have to upgrade lockers is because of the bigger ring and pinion gear, not necessarily because of the bigger tires. You might be able to run 4.56 with the stock ARB locker.
Which wouldn't be too bad of an idea if you don't drive it on an 80 mile commute. RPM's on a Rubicon with 33 and 4.56 gears at 70mph should be somewhere around 2200. Which would get you into that powerband, well…. maybe not with that new mini van motor that they stuck in there. Oh no, I have gone crossed eyed!!

Austin the rims you have now that i sold you are 15x10, If you wanted to go to a 36 id say at least regear and you would need more lift. If you decided to run your old 15x8 rims with a 13.5 wide tire you might get a little uneven wear, mostly in the center.

Yeah, now that I think about it, I believe I was told (by many Rubi owners) 5.13 is the preferred gear. And you're also right about the gears / lockers.
I was also told my 4.10's are great with 33's. Then again… I gots me a TRACTOR MOTOR!
