I was stuck at the station for about 4 yrs. We had a call to the station for man power, we were calling people we knew that had snow mobiles so that we could go out and save people who were stuck or in ditches. Engine 2, lets just say doesnt like the snow, pulled it out and pulled it right back in to the station. I dont understand why people were out last night, its like, would you be out if there was a hurricane, probably not. The niner did fine in the snow, until I was pulling out and ending up getting stuck in the station parking lot. 4 firefighters later, I was out and on my way home, then had to shovel some of the driveway so I could park. I hate snow and glad the groundhog didnt see his shadow today, if he did, I would have to kick him in the nuts.
I went out lastnight around 1 am to see what it was like. You're right Matt people should have stayed home. Lots of abandoned cars. Jeep was doing great but 1 huge snowbank I went through scared me so I pulled back into the garage.
I spent almost 4 hrs pushing snow today on the driveway. It was horrible. Jumped started the trail rig, there was a lot of snow in front of it, put it in 4low and it came right out, let it run for about 2 hrs since it hasnt ran in a month almost, cleared its parking spot, turned the radio on, listened to some tunes inside of it, drove it around the town to check out how the town was, yeah not good. 72 is closed outside of town along with route 23. Came home, parked it, finished shoveling and parked the niner, went inside and took a shower. All in all a good day, forgot what a jacked up Jeep felt like since I have been driving the niner. Missed it. Now its time to order some parts and get ready for a spring build party
Went in this morning for about a hour and went home. Used another vacation day, today. Whoever was driving the IDOT plow southbound along route 83 is a freakin' moron. He / she / they / plowed snow forming a wall in the righthand lane. Not against it, not alongside it.. IN IT. Thus route 83 along Oakbrook mall & 22nd street is one lane, the left lane. However trveling south on 83 along this stretch, that left lane (straight on thru south on 83) also becomes apart of the righthand, left turn lane ( it's a double left turn lane east onto 22nd st). What friggin' mess for the commuters. It's too cold outside.
Oh by the way Matt; next year, tell 'em you want a snowblower for Christmas.
I've been at home with the kids since Sunday, when my wife left for Indiana to visit with her mother.
She's still stuck in Indiana. HAHAH!
Working from home yesterday and today. Took Monday and Tuesday as vacation.
Took the XJ out yesterday and ran up and down the alley to pack down the snow for my neighbors. No one ever plows the alley. Had some fun, and got some laughs out of the neighbors after I blasted through some drifts.
No troubles in 2' of snow, I'm pretty happy with the XJ right now. The tires are outstanding in this deep snow!
I bought a used Snowsport plow that attaches to a receiver hitch. It did fantastic on my driveway in the rear receiver hitch. I did manage to get my Jeep stuck in my neighbors driveway trying to plow his 2 foot drifts. When I was all done I was checking the tightness of the hitch mount bolts and snapped one off. I tried to drill it out and use an easy out today with no luck. Going to visit a hitch store on Monday to get it fixed.
I bought the plow from a cop in Genoa. He lived right by the high school.
