I have been doing some tweaking on our host to get some speed out of our site.

The first time you come to the page will be slow as ussual, however as long as you don't clear your browser cache, subsequent visits/page refreshes should be faster.

Let me know if you guys feel a difference. I know I did.

Just as an FYI: A lot of the images hosted on this site are very large and can either be resized or just re-saved. Just re-saving some of the images I noticed a 30-40% reduction in size. I will see what I can do to write a program to crawl our site, optimize and replace our images.

One of the main reasons the site was slow, was the nice image display in the banner. A lot of these images are 1-3MB in size, which your browser downloaded each time :(

As said, I'll see where else I can optimize w/o having to move our stuff to another platform. I'll also see what I can do about the avatar problem….

Just be patient with me. I write software all day long for a living and when I get home, I just want to wind down, have a beer and just be with my family.
