I never implied comparing quality. My argument was the warranty is the same whether you have Pittsburg, Craftsman or Snap-On tools. Meaning there is no validity to say someone who buys "cheap stuff" will pay more for tools in the end.

Tell that to the guy who had to pay me far more then a good set of snap on sockets to remove the jug-nuts he rounded off…
I've used lots of tools and trust me lifetime warranties don't always hold water with lower end stuff and you are not taking into account lost time, ruined parts and all of the incidentals that come from bad tools f'ing up a job.
Pay now or pay later.

Btw; I have a Harbor Freight within 5 miles of me.
As for having a tool fail at 4:00 am – Nope. Btw; it was suggested I include, the only thing you haven't admitted is that all tools break – even Snap-On. Accroding to the mechanics at my place of work.
Just wondering, where did you get your A&P, and who have you worked for?

You keep mentioning professional use and issues? Who cares? That has nothing to do with the backyard mechanic getting the best bang for his buck.
This is getting old. Like you said – whoever, can buy what they want, and I won't hold it against them. Much less care.

I have broken Snap on stuff, everything breaks but when you consider that 75% of the time I use Snap on tools and that I woudl guess less then 10% of my broken tools are Snap on what does that say?
I would say the guy who had to pay me to remove his lug nuts was not a professional issue; he was a weekended when it comes to wrenching.
I don't see why it matters but I got my A&P at Lewis and worked for Midwest Helicopter and later Northwest Airlines as well as a couple of FBOs in college and right out of school.

The only thing that this thread was meant for is to find out if anyone has experience with Michigan Industrial Tools. For the sake of everyone, if you don't have experience with them, do not post. This is becoming achingly like a 4 year old battle on a playground. YES, name brand tools are great. All he wants to know is YOUR EXPERIENCE with MIT tools. If you have none, take your Craftsman advertisement somewhere else.
Thanks guys.

Wasted time or not there is now a lot of good info in the thread and the site saw a ton of page views; the management can now get rich selling ads…

Holy geeze!
I did not relaize that Michigan Indistrial Tool was MIT! Holy poop but that stuff is junk to the highest order!
Seriously I had to buy an MIT kit on the road a couple of years ago and they where some of the worst tools I have ever used! I broke the ratchet just running a bolt down, not even tightening it. Those damn things where the worst Tiawan gear changers I have ever used! The damn breaker bar bent like a wet noodle and the joint spread like it was made of butter.
Man, they must have changed names to escape the image but looking them up online now it's the same damn stuff right down to the red blow-molded cases and ultra junky looking ratchets.
Stay away, this stuff is the very same junk you get out of the dollar bin at NAPA.
