Wow, that kid that jump the yellow wrangler is pretty lucky he didnt freaking get really hurt from that, dumb kids, Mommy and Daddy probably bought that thing for him too, I'm pretty sure he has a brand new one sitting in the driveway right now.

Right after they saw it on TV would be my guess. If that was my kid they wouldn't see the steering wheel of a vehicle for a very, very long time.

That last video, Jesus, the sound that makes is horrible. Sucks to be that guy. The end is funny when he goes "just stop I dont want him to mess up his truck". I kind of think the guy in the Ford, might have enjoyed that.

but look at is this way when recovering you need to try to get in strate line forward or behind you couldnt do that so next is side on a big no no but when thes no other way you have to do it, so then that ment the were beeing pulled up an angle on a side slope there fore puting all the stress on one side of the xj the only way i could see yo could do that beter ( with out some thing big enugh to get be hind it it) is using a winch so your not yanking on it you sould be as smoth as posabe other wise things get broke

I couldn't see any tow point on that XJ. It looked like the strap was around the axle, or the posibly the steering. It looked to be hooked way too low to be a tow point. Then there were the guys standing right next to the tow vehicle while it was pulling, right next to the XJ, and within a couple feet of the strap while there was a 3/4 or 1 ton Diesel putting stress on it. And why the hell were there 2 people standing on top of the XJ while It's being extracted? They're lucky they didn't flip that Cherokee on top of somebody standing there.
Yes, a winch would have obviously been a much better idea. I wonder why nobody there had one.
A lot of stupid goin on in that video. I know those guys don't… but I hope you guys realize how dangerous recovery can be. Or just this hobby in general. Every year I see a few posts somewhere, or get a couple emails about somebody that's been killed trying to enjoy this hobby. Injuries are too numerous to mention. Troubling part is, most of the deaths I see are not "newbs", or guys just doing something stupid. Most of these guys are experienced, and almost all of them happen during recovery. Improperly mounted tow points become missles. And it seems for whatever reason they always go in the direction of someones head. This is why I'm kinda anal about tow points, and there are some things I won't even put a strap, or winch cable to. I'm the same way about cheapie dash mounted roll cages, and improperly mounted inexpensive harnesses. When I comment on it, I'm not trying to be mean, I just take safety very seriously.

that wasnt on the axle if the strap was on the axle it woul of gone forward but it stayed wher it was and the body went forward

The better way would have been to leave it and come back with the proper equipment.
They where NEVER going to get that Jeep put pulling on it in the manner they where. The right front tire being buried like it was was simply not going to allow the rest of the Jeep to be pulled from a point higher then it was, period. If common sense was not enough to tell them to stop the jeep almost flopping over should have been! The morons should have just kept trying to bring it out backwards; it almost always makes more sense, on flatter stuff, to pull it back through what you already cleared out then over or through the obstacle that stopped you!
I can see so many safety issues in that it is insane:
- Strap is to long; the longer the strap the more likely it is to break and the more energy it is absorbing.
- Chain in the pulling combo.
- Two idiots hanging off the high side of a Jeep obviously in risk of going over.
- Both the above idiots are in the chain's 'kill zone' if it breaks and comes at them.
- Side pull on the XJ, but we knew that already.
- Lots of people in the 'kill zone' the entire time.
The whole thing was a massive fail and it makes me hang my head in shame because when I tell people I am a four wheel drive enthusiast videos where like this what they judge me by and there is nothing funny about that…
