I use mine every time I am on the highway, which was every single day until I got a job that didn't require highway travel a few years back.  I still move the CB from the Jeep into the van whenever I take the family on trips, etc.

If you don't have a built in SWR on the CB, borrow or buy an SWR meter (not very expensive) and tune your antenna in an open area (field, huge parking lot, etc).  Then, if you are near a highway, put it on channel 19, wait for a break in the talk, and call out for a "radio check".  90% of the time if someone hears you, they will acknowledge.  You can follow up and ask how the transmission sounds on their end, and just say you're tuning your radio.
