Im thinking of mounting my cb antenna on my front bumper. In order to do this i have to run the wire through the engine compartment, will i be getting feedback off the ignition and electronics in the engine? Its been along time since ive had a cb in a vehicle, and when i did it was extremly halfassed, as in half the time i didnt even run it with an antenna hooked up halfassed. So obviously optimal cb performance is way down my list of priorities on a setup.

To be honest, I think it will get ripped off if you put it on the front bumper. As far as routing goes, just keep the antenna cable as far from the ignition components as possible. You might get some disturbance.

Running the antennae cable through the engine compartment will make it much more susceptable to RFI from the ignition and alternator.

Cool, im not too worried about it getting ripped off, ill be welding a tab to my bumper, and its a 5 foot steel whip, it used to be on my jeep and i beat the crap out of it and it was fine. I guess ill just have to try it, hontesly as long as i can hear the other trucks on the trail right around me ill be fine. The only other place i can, and would like, to mout it would be onto my tool box, but that will be a PITA.

I have had my antennae mounted everywhere on my truck. Front/ back/ side/ where ever I put it, I always find a way to destroy it on the trail.

Thats why i like the real thin whipe antennas, they put very little torque on the mount. Back in my jeepin days i bought a fire stick and broke it on my first run with it, got the 5 foot whip for free and ive been fine ever since. Ill be fine with a chunk of steel welded to my front bumper with a hole in it for the antenna.
