I was all over that post reading about them. I want one as my tow rig. Park the jeep in the back and not worry about the rest. Only thing I would worry about is getting to someone in it if they needed to get pulled. Thats a BIG truck to get into the woods.

Ohhhh they slide like a big dog. I was in the infantry. And have been in the back on some very intereasting snowy icey rides in germany. Oh and I am pretty sure cdl is required.

I would like to find one of those military trailers all the guys in Utah use to carry stuff around. Some guy on Jeepforum.com has one but he wants like $1500.00 for it and local pickup :(

It would only be a class B CDL and that is easy. It may not even be that hard since you aren't driving it commercially.

I don't think you would need a commercial license, maybe just a class b. That depends on gvwr of the vehicle, not the actual weight. Class B is just a longer written (not quite as long as cdl B, but longer than a standard D license) and a driving test. I have my class b non-cdl and I'm licensed by the State to give the drive test….for people in my "agency" (workplace).
Moparboy-you probably have somebody at your station that is certified by the State to give your guys the driving test….

I have to have a class B license in order to drive the fire trucks. Which is considered a non-cdl and then there is a cdl of course :)

Haha I never even thought about the fact that you might need a different license to drive the fire truck. I'm a genius. Haha

The test for the actual class b cdl isnt much different or that hard. I have a class b cdl with tanker and haz/mat endorsement. I think the one you have evans goes along the guide lines for a class c. But, the gvwr puts in the class b range.

And GVWR will determine the type of licensing (plates). As for CDL-B, the only recommendation would be to have air brakes. Any other endorsement would only be needed depending on job (cargo) requirements. I've had a CDL-A for 15+ years now. I own a small fleet of semi dump trucks which I broker thru the stone quarry I work at as a Operating Engineer.
With that said, that Duece would be a cool tow vehicle.
