Being a new guy around here, I was checkin out some of the videos and photos from previous runs and was curious if anyone tows or if everyone drives? I used to drive but went to an offroad only rig and began towing. It made wheeling alot more relaxed because I always had a way home. Since then, my jeep can be street driven, just 4cyl power isn't the greatest for highway cruising. So, I still trailer.

What do you guys do?

Drive. Mostly because I can't afford a trailer or a tow rig while I'm in College. :)

I drive mine. Although the ZJ hasnt seen any action since last year's Halloween Run, the XJ has taken the spot as the weekend warrior and it does just fine. Would love to be able to have a tow rig and a trailer…someday I will.

I use a trailer.  It makes a good base camp and when its wet outside, I set the tent up right on the deck to keep everything dry.

I used to trailer back when i had a heep.  Trailerd the yj down to KY, got cockey and did this:

I broke the front axle, ripped the steering box off the frame, and bent some other stuff.  After this trip the jeep went on jack stands to get a SOA, waggy 44 up front and a shaved c&c 14b out back with some 37s.  I ended up selling my gmc sierra, trailer and eventually the jeep and bought the taco.  I now DD the taco and it drives to all wheeling adventures, makes it more fun and keeps my stupidity in check haha!!

True. I forgot about that bonus feature. I've yet to do it. A tarp will keep water from coming up, but if it's raining hard enough, you'll always catch some water. However, after the rain, move the trailer and you may have a nice dry spot. I just like the stress free wheeling. There are so many variables to go wrong, which could strand a person. You never know when it would happen…

The fact that its a jeep is why its broke!!  J/K….. well kinda.  The powersteering was failing, puking fluid, and starting to come off the frame going into that obsticle, i fell into that v groove and blew the drivers side bead, then i tried to drive out and blew up the front axle (2nd time that day).  I just really beat on my jeep hard that wknd.  The trailer made me over confident.  I agree with the OP though, it is nice just having to get your rig back to the trailer and your home free.  I probibly will slap my truck up on my buddies goose neck for fall crawl though, hes trailers his zj evreywhere.

i drive mine but i would totaly tow it if i had a trailer or tow dolley, it would take a lot of the timidness and cautiousness out of wheelin adventures!

no you dont get it… its a jeep, its never fixed, just less broken

I have a tow rig but my Cargo trailer for my atv's will only haul about 4k, so i need to either upgrade it or get a flat bed.

Actually the wrangler weighs in at about 4,500lbs.  I just ran my motorhome and jeep across a black cat truck scale to calculate how much PSI to run in the new airbags on the coach.
