that was quite the fun debate on jeep forum!!
but yeah, I cant really afford a toy right now, and Im finding soooo much rust!! so Im just gonna have fun with it will she is a pile o scrap. But I really want lockers and 4:10 gears so it will eventually get the ford 8.8 rear. and a 04 wj d35?? front, and 16" rims.
the wjs already have OTK steering, so the one I have would go to the scrap pile.

ha as far as im concerned, if it bent once it will bend again. clearly its not srong enough to hold up the front end of a jeep lol. so i say deal with it and worry about it when it bends again. i doubt it weakened it that much that it is even gonna come close to being unsafe to drive. and trust me ive seen some unsafe things come into the shop. just put some corn-gas in her she'll be just fine :)

16" rims? what the hell is the point of that? The ford 8.8 sounds good, let me know if you find a spare one, I will need on for the ZJ eventually.

I wouldnt trust it if it bent once. get some dom and heims! there are a ton of 8.8 rear ends at the junk yard off 120 and 14 a few out of rangers and a bunch of expo ones that are nice because they have disk brakes.

I will eventually need 16 for clearing the knuckles I want off the wj. they have a much larger knuckle, and the like between the pitman tie rod is the knuckle. so regular TREs from the stock setup on the wjs

Aside from clearing brake parts larger wheels reduce sidewall which can be a benifit on climbs with low air pressue because the trie can not wind up and then bounce back when it looses traction as much because there is less sidewall to compress. This greatly reduces bouncing when you are trying to wheel spin up a ledge and, as we all know, bounce is what breaks parts.
I have seen people running a big tire on a small rim up the air pressure to get rid of bounce on climbs.
