Hey I was talking to a few guys from Brew City Crawlers and they told me about another off road park in Wisconsin. Like McCaslin Mountain this off road park also has a campground with tent and Water/electric sites. The weird part is they are only open to the public on certain weekends. BUT the REAL cool part is if you book 10 or more campsites with 10 or more trail passes they will open the park on a closed weekend exclusively for your group plus give everybody a discount on the trail passes. How about a DDO only weekend? We'd have the park and campground to ourselves, now that would be a party!
Northwoods Overland is located in the Northern Central part of Wisconsin, which is about 5-6 hours from Chicago. Their website is: http://www.northwoodsoverland.com/ I was invited by BCC to join them Oct 9 – 10 for their "Closed Weekend event" but I already have plans – otherwise I could give DDO a complete report.
Maybe this is something DDO can plan for a future event.

That sounds awesome! I would probably have to take the ferry over, but it sounds worth it. It would be a lot of travel money, and time, but if we had the entire park to ourselves it would be worth every penny.
and I'm not just saying this to back out later. Count me in.

Justin was talking about this last night and it sounds really cool. It's pretty obvious from the Dunes that we can get 10 campsites no problem so if I am given enough notice (due to school) I would totally come!

I would be all over this. Since we're talking about the north woods — early fall or late spring sounds like a good time to go.

What replacement? Badlands is the scheduled run in Sept.

You really need to pay more attention to what's going on.
As I recollect, when it bacame fact Mccaslin closed, Badlands was made the official alternate destination at the picnic (same time Bundy Hill was made official this month). This was also briefly discussed at the meeting last week.
As much as I like the Badlands, I'd be willing to head north in September.

I'm gonna throw a lil devils advocate in there… The drive from Wheaton to Wausau is possibly the most boring drive in the world. I enjoy Iowa more. Wausau has snowboarding and I've pretty much sworn off going there again due to the miserable drive!. Just a heads up

I disagree, I enjoy the Drive IN WI better than IOWA any day.

Many of the members in this club are familiar with the drive from the IL stateline to the northwoods. It doesn't come close to bringing tears to my eyes as much as I-65 from 80/94 south to Indianapolis. FWIW — Obviously you've never driven I-10 from Phoenix, AZ to the California stateline.
Heads up; For us, it's about the destination.

I was suggesting this as a event for next year. Give the three wiseman a break and lets stick to the schedule. Plus when it keeps changing it is hard for us guys that have to take vacation to be there.
I'm sure the NorthWoods OverView will be a blast – but it's going to take some planning which takes time. Don't forget we have to pay for at least 10 sites with 10 trail passes – that should be scheduled so we can get confirmed reservations and figure out who is held accountable for no-shows.
