Okay, so they has been a lot of talk about going to different parks around the midwest. As a club, I would love to see all of us enjoy as many parks as we can. With that, I would like to see every member who has a new park in mind to respond to this thread. By doing so, I will write down the park, get info about the park and bring it up to JOhn and Tim about next year's event schedule. Now mind you, not all of us can get off of work for those trips, some members will still be in school and other family things that might be going on that weekend.

Also, I know we all want to wheel, thats the point of this club, not only to wheel but to also make new friends and have a good time, no matter what park we are at. With that said, I personally cant be doing long trips to parks every month, reason why Cliff's is so popular during the scheduled year of events. Because it is close for everyone (except Tony who has to live in Michigan, lol) and they treat us good at Cliff's.

I do want to experience new parks in the area and around the midwest, I enjoy wheeling with everyone in the club and I enjoy the weekends when we all camp out, its filled with laughs, smiles, and half dranken cans of beer. All in all always a good time.

And, I was planning on bringing this up at the xmas party but I think I will let everyone know now, I have for the past couple months been planning a trip for the club to Moab. Yes, you read that right, M O A B!!!. I dont plan to have all the info done by the end of the year but I was hoping that it would be a big club trip during our 5th year as a club. I am still working on all the details but you will all know when I get all the info packets done and handed out.

So with that said. Please respond with a park that you would like to go to next month. I cant promise that it will make the cut but it will be put in the box of parks that we want to take DDO to.

And on a side note. If a member is not going on a official trail run and ends up going to, lets say Cliff's that weekend and other members join that member there, please take pictures and send them to Tim, so that he can post them up. It may not be an official club event but to me, its still representing DDO. Thanks

I'm all about seeing new parks.  Northwoods sounds awesome but as knutter said that should take some serious planning and commitment by club members.  So I'll throw in Rock and Valleys, or The Mounds.  Both are in Michigan, but I would also be interested in Northern IL, IN or OH.

As always the Badlands, the Cliff's and Silver Lake.

There are many others I would like to go to and I am sure they will get listed by other members. If any help is needed with gathering information or planning I would be more than happy to help.

Are you looking to keep suggestions within a specific range – either drive time or mileage?  I could give you a whole bunch of areas to check out, but not sure how far some people are willing to travel.

I realize as a non-club member my opinion doesn't apply too much, but I personally get bored with the same parks all the time (ie: Cliffs, Badlands), and seek out other places that could be visited and wheeled in the course of a weekend.  Here are some of the places not yet listed that I'd recommend going as a group (pending distance, of course).

Interlake OHV – Lynnville, IN

http://www.in.gov/dnr/outdoor/4226.htm – This place is still (currently) free.

Haspin Acres – Laurel, IN

Black Mountain Off-Road Park – Harlan, KY

Matt – I'm confused…  Do you want suggestions for parks for the group to attend next month or do you want suggestions for parks for the group to attend to be presented at next months meeting?

The Badlands is scheduled for next month (Sept 24, 25) correct?

I totally agree also with not planning weekends every month.  I work second shift and have to take a vacation day on the Friday of these long events – and I only have so many vacation days.   Oh but going to Moab – I'm there, even if I have to call in sick for a few!Wink

Just a heads up, I believe to run interlake you have to have an indiana registerd vehicle, I remember reading a thread on it on pirate.

Not so – you just have to register yourself with the DNR.  If you are not an Indiana resident, there is a little more paperwork/red tape to work through, but you are still allowed to wheel there:

Jeff,

I just want suggestions from everyone on where they would like to go. Not so much for this year but next year's schedule and the following. Everyone has to remember that we might not be able to do all these parks next year, so many of them might have to be placed on the 2012 calender of events. I also dont want to schedule a bunch of long trips every month, doesnt help anyones wallet or vehicle.

Next month is the Badlands so that will not be changed. These are suggestions for next year's events. Mind you though, the Cliff's will most likely be a park that we go to the most just because of the fact that it is closer. Yes it's small and blah blah blah but its our home park and its a good park for new people who join the club who have never been offroading to find out how their vehicle handles and test their driving abilities.

Anyways, just keep posting the parks that you would like to see the club attend and I will keep writing them down. Thanks.

Oh and Doug, if I need your help, I will let you know, I usually like working with people taller then 4 ft but I am always willing to  accept help from "little people", WinkLaugh.

Someone's already nominated all the parks I'd like to go to next year, so I'm just a +1 for everything mentioned so far.  :-)

The Cliffs will get old for me once I've gone through all of the trails, more than once.  Right now, I doubt I can do that on my own, so the challenge is still there for me.  It's easy to get to, and seemed like a decent place to have some fun.

OK then thanks for clearing that up – already asked off for Friday Sept 24th (also my 45th birthday) and planning for the Badlands!

I'd like the club to look into the Northwoods Overland http://www.northwoodsoverland.com/ for a future event - maybe for a exclusive weekend for DDO members only…

Come on the Cliffs won't get old – the trails are ever changing well at least the ruts are… Wink  It is a good place for DDO to hold their offroad lessons and to show the new people how to wheel.  I've been there 5 times now and there is still a bunch of trails that I have not been on.  It a great place for a one day-er!

Damn, you're old.  Wink

Like I mentioned before, I am all over a trip to Northwoods Overland.  Let's do it. (and I agree, member's only).

As for the Cliff's –  I might, might go there once or twice next year.

As for suggestions regarding next year, I want to experience new places.  One of those places (aside from Northwoods Overland) would be Rocks & Valleys in MI.  I'll go as far as to commit to a trip there with or without the club.  You listening Tony?  Wink

FWIW –  Al and I have discussed a four day weekend to TN.  It would be cool to see other members attend as well.

Oh yeah — 3 years is a long time away.  I might be dead by then.  If so, enjoy Moab!

Northwoods Overland looks awesome.  I would definatly be in for that trip.  I may even try to get up there Sept 3-6 or 17-19 this year.  Anybody else interested?
