Okay so the possibility of camping (Friday night) came up at the Cookout…  When I got home, I clicked the Lodging tab on the Cliffs website where it shows a campground and a Super 8 motel.

The campground (primitive / tent) is $28.00 / on Friday night.

The Super 8 (cheapest rate – 1 queen bedroom) was $93.84 total (including tax).

They're both kind of high priced if you ask me but I am willing to camp (Friday night) if anyone is interested.

Oh and as for those lodging links on the Cliffs website (to both these places), don't bother, the links are not accurate.

These links will take you to the proper website of each facility.

There is also a camp ground down the road a bit called Hickory Hollow in Utica.  The campground itself is very nice and clean but the owner can get a little bitchy.  She really has a thing for visitors and rule breakers.  I've stayed there twice with my camping club and once when I wheeled the first time with DDO.  Here is the link: http://www.hickoryhollowcg.com/

Just a huge FYI this is the same time as the annual Toyota Jamboree

Past Jamborees have had 60+ rigs…. Might be a bit crowded.

4TH ANNUAL

CHICAGO TOYOTA JAMBOREE

JULY 23, 24, & 25.

AT

Cliffs Insane Terrain

IN MARSEILLES IL

This is going to be simple and cheap this year! Just some good fun shenanigans.

Wheeling:

Normal Cliffs rates.

$24/Day $10/additional day.

$6/Passenger.

Camping:

$15/site flat rate for the weekend. So second night is free. (site=1 tent or RV)

Port-o-pot will be there.

I am scouting out a new camp site. I have a couple ideas that might
work really well. One is close to the parking lot, (walking distance)
grassed, and private. So the RV guys can (if they want) leave the RV in
the lot and walk/drive to camp. Updates later.

Food:

As of now I plan to have the snack shack open from

Saturday: 8ish to 6ish.

Sunday: 8ish to normal closing hours.

Friday: closed as of now

Actually pretty good food, with a large diverse menu. And breakfast food in the morning.

There will not be an organized BBQ. Feel free to bring a BBQ if you want.

There is a local fast food with in 4 miles. (Seneca and Marseilles)

Raffle:

We don’t need no stinkin raffle. (If you really want one, feel free to organize one, let me know if you need any help)

Merchandise:

We don’t need no stinkin merchandise. (If you want to deisgn/sell something, let me know)

Loose Schedule:

Friday:

Arrival starts at 9am.

Free roam of the park until 5pm.

**Park closes at 5pm. You should be off the trail by 5pm, so the Staff
can make sure everyone who is not with the event is out of the park.
Grab a bite to eat.

**There will be the typical evening shenanigans, and maybe a night run.
Night runs, MUST be in groups, for safety reasons. No solo night
running.

Saturday:

Optional meeting at the office at 9am. We will go over some basics, and
split into groups for the guided runs. If you are coming later, be
prepared to be somewhat on your own. I will try to be available, and
the staff will try to point you in the right direction to find an
appropriate group. If this is your first time to the Cliffs, or your
first time wheeling, I suggest being at the park in time for the
meeting and go out on a guided run.

Wheeling until 5pm.

**There will be the typical evening shenanigans, and maybe a night run.

Sunday:

Free roam of the park.

Well that blows.  So now what?  We still going to Cliff's?

I wanted to attend Bundy Hill too but when it became obvious no one at the cookout wanted to go, I figured the planned weekend was a bust.

I'm down for Badlands if anyone suggests a change of location (on July 24th).

I may be down for the BadLands. I may also be down for Bundy Hill, but can't commit to either just yet. We have a lot of things going on.

I'm planning on leaving Friday afternoon to go to the campsite that Jerry found. I will be camping there Friday night and if I feel like doing Cliff's 2 days in a row, might camp there on Saturday as well. I just want to wheel but driving to bundy hill to wheel a park that is "slightly" bigger then Cliff's, I dont want to waste the cash on that, though the park does look fun. I am also planning on doing the Badlands in September. I know a lot of people liked that park and liked staying there the weekend, so I am planning on going to the Badlands in September. Just wanted to let everyone know what my plans were.

That sounds like a plan to me (including Badlands in Sept).  Matt we'll have to touch base about meeting up on Friday.  Of course anyone else who would like to head towards Cliff's on Friday the 23rd, should be sure to chime in.  As for camping Saturday night, I'm open to that as well.  The only other thing I think needs to be done here is directions to that campsite.
