If you havent heard. On the night of 5/10/2011, Austin, one of our members, his house was destroyed by a 2 alarm fire. Brian who is also a member, his 5.9L Grand Cherokee was in the garage and was also destroyed by the fire. Austin lost everything and 2 of his family dogs passed. I would like to hold a couple of events for Austin and his family. As of now, I am cancelling the trip to Michigan. I believe helping one of our members is more important then wheeling in Michigan. John is planning on contacting Cliff's to see if they would let us hold a charity run there. I would also like to hold a charity car/jeep show at the Tilted Kilt everyone goes to on Monday nights, but maybe not on a monday night I am thinking maybe a saturday or something like that. If you would like to give cash donations, contact myself, Tim or John. This thread will be updated when more info is available please make sure to mark you calender for these events. Like I said, this is one of our members, we all need to step up and help our brothers out in this situation. This is what DDO is all about. Okay well I spoke with Corbin via facebook message and he has given us the green light to hold a charity run at the Cliff's. Still need to work some details out and yes I know, we were just at the Cliff's last month but this is ALL for charity, helping Austin and his family out and helping out Brian as well. John, Tim and I still have a ton of stuff to work out but here is the date for the charity run. MAY 28th. I know its memorial day weekend and we all probably have family stuff going on but keep in mind that this club is one big family (at least how I see it) and we all need to be there for eachother no matter what differences we may have. So mark you calenders for the 28th at Cliff's. I have given some other chicagoland clubs invites as well. Like I said, I am going to be talking to Corbin some more, John and Tim as well to make sure we can do everything we can do for Austin and his family. I also believe that every member should try to come to this event. More info to come.

Thanks Evans for posting this. I did not hear of the fire or the losses. If I can't make the run I will most certainly make a donation to their cause. I am off that date so I should be good to go.

I've been tracking Austin's story on facebook – I can't imagine what Brian, Austin, and their family is going through.
Now this is what a club is all about, one big family – great idea guys! Count me in for sure! If you want to do a raffle let me know and I will get a Eureka Tent for a donation. It there is anything else I can please do let me know.

On the night of 5/10 ? Did this JUST happen, or to you mean 5/9? Totally sucks. Jenny and I have a lot going on that weekend and we have a marathon run on the 28th.  Good idea getting this together. I'll get in on the raffle or something.

Matt, I posted a message on the club's facebook page instructing members to come to the forum here for an important message. Maybe you should post on the clubs facebook page too?
Meanwhile, I will be changing my plans on the 28th to attend.

I will gladly talk to the Kilt management in Roselle to see what can be worked out. Let me know what else we can do and what day might work best for a fund raiser. We will also put up a monetary donation as well!

I won't be able to attend the Charity run on the 28th, but be will making a donation. I will try to make the kilt event whenever it is.

Lets all do everything we can. I honestly don't know what I would do in such a situation. I am thankful that the family got out safely but they have a long period of rebuilding today and with an army like us behind them, it can only get easier.

Wow, This certainly makes you appreciate what you have in life and how it can change in a second… I'm all in for the "Bogging for the Braithwaites" event and an IMEDIATE financial donation. Maybe let us know how/when/where we can send donations????
Also (As I stated earlier) if I can help arrange a fund raiser at the Tilted Kilt in Roselle by talking with the TK mamagement. I'd be more than happy to do this! Just someone please et me know if I should get something rolling.

OK – well, we can't make the charity run. We will be in TN on Friday May 27th thru June 6th for our vacation. If it wasn't for my Father's 60th birthday we would reschedule. I'm sure we will be able to participate in other events.
Our thoughts and prayers are with both Austin's Family and with Brian.
