So I have procrastinated on getting a new CB Antenna, since a parking garage ate my last one.  Was looking to get another Firestik KW3-R.

This site seems to have a good price on it:

I'm using a simple Cobra CB Radio that I bought from Walmart, so nothing too high tech.  Was wondering if anyone was running a different type antenna that they like?  If not, I'll probably just order the same one.

I run a Firestik Firefly FL-4.  The FL series is much better for your application (off-road) then the old original KW series.

Like all Firestik antenna's, they're prone to breaking if not mounted on a spring.

Whoops!  Thought I had the KW3-R… After looking at it, it's a Firefly.

No complaints, was curious if there was a better model.

Thanks Jerry!

Yeah I'd say a spring is a must… Even with it, I was able to break my antenna by driving through a parking garage.  Oh well, my fault.  We live we learn.

Thanks for the info!

I paid around 9 bucks for a CB antenna at FRYS in Downers Grove. They have some really good stuff and great prices.

Fry's have the better brands, or just the no-names?  Never occured to me to check there for CB stuff.  I go online, usually.

Well I was originally looking or a Firestik antenna too, but my gf and I stopped there one day to look around and each walked out with goodies in our hands. To be honest, I did not even check the brand of the antenna. It looks and feels very well made, carbon fiber stick, with that rubber coating that covers the antenna. Picked up a connector, and some cable too. All for around 20 bucks. I think it's a good deal. As far as CB's go, they had Cobra's and Uniden. So I they do carry name brands there.
